Hydrochemistry of Umm Er Radhuma Groundwater

چکیده
Umm Er Radhuma Aquifer (UER) is the most important groundwater aquifer in Saudi Arabia, extending over 1.6 M·km2 eastern part of Arabian Peninsula, forming main throughout Rub’ Al-Khali (RAK). Groundwater salinity increased from west to east, reaching more than 27,000 mg/L near border with United Arab Emirates, where a Na+-Ca2+Clˉ- water type dominated. Gibbs diagrams indicated that dissolution/precipitation carbonates and evaporation/precipitation minerals, especially anhydrite, gypsum, halite account for solutes groundwater. Most samples plot above 1:1 line (Ca2+ + Mg2+) against , indicating other sources Ca2+ Mg2+ along dolomite calcium carbonate minerals. Phreeqc model clay minerals are kaolinite gibbsite which had major effect on cation exchange process as by Chloro-Alkaline index (CAI), values greater zero occurrence reverse ion between its host aquifer. The Na+-Ca2+Clˉ-dominated anaerobic conditions prevailed reduction sulphate took place.

Hydrochemistry and Groundwater Quality Assessment of Dantewada District, Chhattisgarh, India
Hydrogeological investigation have been carried out in Dantewada district. Groundwater samples were collected from selected locations in month of September 2013 and analyzed for major and minor cations & anions. Piper Diagram identified Ca-Mg-HCO3 dominantin water in most of the samples. The dominance of anions and cations were of the order of HCO3 > SO4 2>Cl > NO3 > PO4 2and Mg 2+ >Ca 2+ > Na ...
متن کاملA multivariate statistical approach to spatial representation of groundwater contamination using hydrochemistry and microbial community profiles.
Managers of landfill sites are faced with enormous challenges when attempting to detect and delineate leachate plumes with a limited number of monitoring wells, assess spatial and temporal trends for hundreds of contaminants, and design long-term monitoring (LTM) strategies. Subsurface microbial ecology is a unique source of data that has been historically underutilized in LTM groundwater desig...
متن کاملIodine mobilization in groundwater system at Datong basin, China: evidence from hydrochemistry and fluorescence characteristics.
Characterizing the speciation of iodine in groundwater is essential for understanding its hydrogeochemical behavior in aquifer systems. To quantify the variations in iodine speciation and assess factors controlling the distribution and transformation of iodine, 82 groundwater samples and 1 rain water were collected from the Datong basin, northern China in this study. Factor analysis (FA) and ex...

متن کاملContribution of the aquitard to the regional groundwater hydrochemistry of the underlying confined aquifer in the Pearl River Delta, China.
Aquitards are capable of generating and preserving large amounts of chemicals. The release of the chemicals from the aquitards poses a potential contamination risk to groundwater that may be used as a drinking water source. This work aimed to identify the contribution of hydrogeochemical processes in the aquitards to groundwater hydrochemistry in the underlying confined basal aquifer by studyin...
